Although not outlined in the factory shop manual to do so, the age of these vehicles dictates that we STRONGLY recommend replacement of rack boots and reservoir. The reservoir contains an integral filter which, if not replaced, can contaminate new power steering components and cause premature failure of your newly remanufactured component.
CORE RETURNS: When a core is returned it must be complete, not disassembled, and re-build-able. Please follow the removal instructions included with your rebuilt rack and do not use clamps to remove the tie rods. It WILL damage the core. Please use the lock bolts provided with the rebuilt rack during removal to prevent twisting and damage to the hard lines. Any damages that require part replacement (shaft corrosion/damage, twisting, hard line smashing, etc) will induce a deduction from your $400 core charge to cover the loss. In the event the damage cost outweighs the core charge, the core will not be accepted and no refund will be given. The core must be a like for like with matching part numbers of the purchased unit. Steel hard lines must be in good condition and not crimped/smashed/removed! Steering shafts must not be badly pitted with corrosion. Make sure your contact information is included in the box. All returns must be shipped freight prepaid. Please take care in packaging your parts and pack so they are protected in case they leak. We are not responsible for any damages incurred during shipping to us. Core return approval can take up to 2-3 months. You will NOT be able to receive your refund until approval has taken place!
Core Charge - Once we receive your order we will ship you a rebuilt rack. You will pay a $400 core charge which is refunded when we receive your old rack back in rebuildable condition. Of MOST importance is the condition of the shafts and they MUST not be pitted with corrosion nor damaged during tie rod removal! Hard lines MUST be intact and not crimped/smashed! If in doubt send us pictures.
